Update - GIRLS SEC MEET

Hi all,
Wish I had more information, but here goes.  As you know school has been canceled for tomorrow.  At this point, the meet is still on.  The weather forecast looks pretty lousy, but the official decision will not be made until tomorrow morning. 

Please plan to arrive to MHS by 11:15am.  I will post here again and text the captains as soon if I hear anything else.

Final Instructions from meet management.

Parking will be tough as it is a weeknight and EMU is in session.
Park wisely to avoid issues with tickets and towing.  There are lots within
walking distance where parents can park.  Buses can unload at the front door.
Please do not attempt to enter the building though the side doors.
Remind your parents coming that there will be a parking fee for parking lots and that there is an admission fee of $5 for spectators.
RESULTS will be emailed late Wednesday night after the meet or first thing Thursday morning.
AWARDS will be available for pick up after the meet is done....we will not mail awards!  Remember to pick them up!
FIELD EVENT athletes can simply sign up at the event.  No seeding will be done.  Athletes need wristbands as we will process results based upon their wristband numbers.
RELAY CARDS will be available for COACHES on the main floor.  Please get these cards in quickly.
If you have to change a name as the meet goes on, don't worry about it unless the team wins or sets a meet record.
INDIVIDUAL TRACK EVENTS - we will be using MITS on track seeding for heats.  Please make sure your athletes have a reasonable early season seed time in their head so they can be correctly placed in heats so they can compete against those other athletes of equal ability.

  • First day of Tryouts was a great success. 
    • Thanks for all of your efforts and cooperation.  
  • Tuesday - We're going ahead with Time Trials - 
    • With a decent window of weather Tuesday - 3-15 hourly forcast
    • Remember to bring clothes for indoors and out.  
      • I suggest Under Armour type tights and some sort of jacket / sweatshirt.
  • Tuesday's Time Trials - (Heats will be posted later)
    • 400 - All Sprinters, Hurdlers and Middle Distance Runners.
    • 1600 - All Distance Runners
  • Wednesday's Time Trials - 
    • 100, 200 - All Sprinters, Hurdlers
    • 800 - All Distance and Middle Distance Runners.

Conditioning Begins Today

  • Any prospective Monroe Trojan Track & Field Athlete not playing a winter sport should report outside of Room - C225 @ 2:30, dressed and ready to workout.

indoor state results

Congratulations to all of our Monroe Trojan Track & Field athletes who qualified for and competed in the MITS Indoor State Championship today at Eastern Michigan University. 
  • Shana Flanary led the girls, finishing 2nd in the weight throw and 4th in the shot put.
  • Samantha Waltz was 8th in the high jump.
  • Marina Aguilera, Jasmine Mata, Alicia Gillean and Jessica Sexton finished 8th in the Distance Medley Relay
  • Alexis Michelin tied her personal best (9' 9") in the pole vault.
  • Sexton, Aguilera, Gillean and Ashley Nichols missed the podium by one spot, finishing 9th in the 3200 relay.
  • Reggie Allen won the triple jump.
  • Austin Whitelaw won the 3200.
  • Jacob Schweinsberg, Alec Swindeman, Mitch Latray and Whitelaw won the Distance Medley Relay.
  • Nick Masserant finished 3rd in the High Jump
  • Schweinsberg was 7th in the 800.
